«novaYA» is the only opera diva in the world who plays the music instrument of the future (laser harp). The unique show includes laser beams live playing, charming opera vocal, luminous costumes, video-projection, that makes your advertisements and photo reports as well as your parties, presentations and gala dinners unforgettable.
The most suitable and complete laser harp performance should last 10 minutes and consist of 6 different music tracks. We also may offer a laser harp playing master class (7-10 minutes).
If you need the performances of additional artists at your event besides the laser harp show, there is a possibility to lower the expenses for a rider, a fee, makeup rooms, and transfer by ordering the 3D dress show and the LAFESTA music project because the line-up of our shows is the same: the soloist Olha Rossi and 2-3 people (only 3-4 airline tickets and one rider to provide a full-fledged concert program for the whole evening).
The show «novaYA» has already performed at such landmark events as: «The Person of the Year» award ceremony; a gala dinner at the royal palace of Bucharest (Romania); the wedding of Sheikh's son of Ras Al Khaimah (one of the UAE emirates); the award ceremony of Italian designers in the “House of Architecture” (“Casa dell'Architectura”, Rome, Italy); television shows at National Opera of Ukraine; and many other events, presentations and parties.
Promo video of the laser harp «novaYA» performances at 4 various events. (Booking the laser harp and laser show for a wedding party, private event, corporate meeting).
The key difference between “novaYA” and other laser shows is that the front-woman does not imitate to playing on laser beams but really plays on them. Because a laser harp is not a dummy, but a real musical instrument. This fact provides an opportunity to make interactive (master class) for the guests of the event and to play a laser harp anyone.
The soloist who plays the laser harp is a professional opera singer (Olga Rossi). Her charming voice sounds in soundtracks of the TV-project: «Fashion TV», «High Life», «Madrid Fashion Week». She is one of the few singers in the world who sings three different voices (opera, folk and pop vocal). Olga has a higher academic vocal education of Kyiv Conservatory (National Music Academy of Ukraine) and she performed leading roles in famous opera performances, such as “Bohemia”, “Iolanta”, “Carmen”, “The Marriage of Figaro”, etc. In December 2019, Olga was awarded the “Woman of the III Millennium” award for her contribution to the development of modern music and art. One more charming girl performs in the duet (your choice: a flautist or a ballerina).
For an additional fee, we can add other artists to the laser harp show (optional: ballerina, flautist or violinist playing the electric violin).
"novaYA" laser harp show is a harmonious combination of classics with innovative technologies and will be decorating the poster of every corporate event or ptivate party. The laser harp most of all resembles a real harp, but instead of strings, it has 13 beams that fan out to the top. Every beam corresponds to a certain note. «novaЯ» show project performed to the uncovered laser harp (which is not restricted by the frame). Then the beams can almost reach the sky, or restricted by the height of a ceiling during performances indoors. It looks rather fascinating and more delightful on the big stages of opera theatres, concert halls and even stadiums.
Since the laser harp can be connected via a special MIDI controller, this allows you to choose all kinds of sounds (any of the ones currently existing in the world) that are ideally befitting for any event: from a concert of a classical symphony orchestra to electronic music for night clubs.
«novaYA» show project has a very simple rider since the band takes the greater part of their musical equipment.
Technical rider requirements:
Hospitality rider (for tours)
Hospitality rider (for Kyiv only)
1. How much space does the laser harp require?
The laser harp is a small black box (height – 25 cm, width – 40 cm, depth – 30cm.). When the laser harp turns on, 13 vertical beams appear. The length of the laser beams is limited only by the height of the ceiling.
2. How much time do the laser harp installation and a soundcheck take?
If all items of our rider are prepared before a soundcheck, the whole process of installation, connection and setting of sound will take 30-40 minutes.
3. When is it better to install the laser harp and should it be placed on stage during the whole performance?
If the laser harp show takes part in the opening of an event or simply at the beginning of a concert-show, it is better to have a sound check 60 minutes before the coming of guests and place the laser harp on stage before the start of the show. If the laser harp show performs at the end of the event or it is impossible to connect the harp right before the event, then we have the sound check several hours earlier and take the harp off the stage. Reinstallation of the laser harp on the stage will last 2-3 minutes (it is better if there is no emphasis on the stage at this moment).
4. How dark should it be inside for the laser beams to be visible?
The darker in a hall is, the more visible the laser beams are. The full blackout is the best, but slender lighting on tables or at the end of a hall will not embarrass the performance. Laser harp beams, the luminous dress of the soloist and a screen (if there is a screen at the event) will make half-light from the full darkness. That is why the additional light will worsen the visibility of the laser beams.
5. Is it possible to lengthen or shorten the duration of the performance?
The performance can be shortened (7, 5, 3 minutes) but not lengthened, because the performance aims to create a WOW effect. 10 minutes of such a performance is more than enough to complete this aim. There is a possibility to lengthen the show due to the adding of an interactive with guests (7-10 minutes), the duration of the laser harp participation will be prolonged up to 17-20 minutes.
6. How does the interaction with the laser harp look like?
There are two variants of the interactive: on a stage or at a separate zone. If the interactive is held on a stage, it lasts 7-10 minutes and is conducted by the Master of Ceremonies of your event. It is better to invite 2-3 the most active people to the stage and to allow them to improvise on the laser harp. It always looks more interesting and funnier, than the attempts to copy a short melody.
If the aims of interactive are to allow playing the laser harp many people – it should be held at a separate zone (which fulfils our technical rider). Interactive can last from 30 minutes up to 120 minutes (but with pauses for cooling the laser in the harp).
7. Do you have the video for a screen?
Yes, we have created our own video show for the laser harp performance. Usually, during the soundcheck, we get the video to your VJ via flashcards or sharing service.
8. If there is no screen at the venue?
This is not a problem since the main show is the laser harp and opera diva in a unique luminous costume.
9. How many people are on stage during the laser show?
Usually, 2 people: the soloist and our DJ / sound man, who can be located near the stage, but no further than 7-8 meters from the laser harp (this is due to the optimal length of the USB cable of the laser harp controller). For an additional fee, we can add other artists to the laser harp show (optional: ballerina, flautist or violinist playing the electric violin).
10. Is it possible to do laser harp performance with the music track, which we chose?
We can play any music (the anthem of your company or the wedding dance) on condition that we have enough time to prepare the performance and we are given a qualified minus music track. It should be extra paid. Definite melodies and music styles cannot be performed with the laser harp due to the discrepancy between the melody with the format of our show.
11. Is it possible to use a smoke machine instead of a hazer? Not advisable. Since the hazer is able to make equable fog on the stage and due to this the laser beams do look intermittently and beautifully.
New musical instruments, which drastically differ from other ones, do not appear very often. Nevertheless, innovative technologies have reached musical arts and promoted the creation of such an instrument of the future as a laser harp.
Earlier the appearance of a piano (taking into account the existence of only a harpsichord and an organ) and a saxophone (a clarinet and a bassoon) wasn't so drastic, because they resemble their predecessors. However, the laser harp differs greatly from other music instruments, because a laser harp performer plays the flow of light (laser beams), touching no physical objects (such as keys, strings, fiddlesticks etc). It can be compared only to the theremin by its uniqueness while playing which the electromagnetic waves are used. Nevertheless, it greatly looses in visual perception. The laser harp itself is a bright and complete show.
The laser harp can be divided into two types: the framed and the frameless. The first ones, as we may guess thanks to the name, are the laser harps which differ by the fact that they include a frame, as well as the original harps, do. The lasers are located at the bottom, the photoreceivers are at the top of the frame. When a hand touches the laser beam it records the interruption of the flow of light and sends the signal to the midi-controller so that it turns on a proper sound. It is a mix of laser signalling with a synthesizer.
The frameless laser harp differs from those noted above by the fact that the strings are not restricted by the frame and the strings stretch up infinitely into space.
The author of this unique musical instrument is Bernard Szajner, who created the first prototype of the laser harp in 1979. This period happily coincides with the release of a famous fiction movie "Star Wars", where the lasers were used as the lightsaber of the Jedi (the laser sword).
Some time, later the French engineer (Philippe Guerre) took on the improvement of the laser harp. He changed the principle of working of the laser harp emending its software. Due to that modifications, the same beam could change the mode depending on the height of its covering. Guerre demonstrated his laser harp at the concert in honour of the twentieth anniversary of NASA in Houston. However, Guerre's laser harp was big enough and consisted of four meters of construction of aluminium and transparent tubes. This fact didn't contribute to the popularization of such a laser harp and it vanished together with the computer which occupied the whole room.
Taking into consideration the fact, that the laser harp was still in the process of improvement, Jean-Michel Jarre demonstrated its new sample during the concert in China in 1981. The new harp was loved by the audience and became very popular due to the reaction of mass media. After this show, Jean-Michel Jarre long time was the only popularizer of the laser harp.
Up to 21st century, the laser harp had only one colour of beams (a green one as usual), that is why the next phase of laser harp development was the appearance of two colours of laser beams (a red one was added). This technique developed very fast which ended in the creation of the multicoloured laser harp with the ability to choose a colour.
At the present moment, "novaYA" uses the most elaborate model of the laser harp, which was created directly for the show. We have an opportunity to use all the colours and shades of the laser beams (from turquoise to crimson one) and changes the width and the slope of the laser harp beams.
